A Year Worth Reflecting On — And a Smart Way to Start the Next One

A Year Worth Reflecting On — And a Smart Way to Start the Next One

December 30, 2025

Category: General,

The end of the year has a way of sneaking up on you.

One minute, we’re helping a homeowner through a January heating breakdown. The next, we’re closing the calendar on another full year of service calls, early mornings, late nights, and a lot of front doors opened.

Before we step fully into the new year, we want to pause for a moment and say something that matters.

Thank you.

This year, homeowners across Hampton Roads trusted One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning with their home comfort. Some of you called us for the very first time. Others have been with us for years. Every visit mattered. Every conversation mattered. And every home mattered.

A Year Built on Showing Up the Right Way

We don’t measure a good year by how busy it was. We measure it by how well we showed up.

That said, there were a few moments this year that meant a great deal to our team.

We were honored to be named a Civic 50 Hampton Roads Honoree for the third year in a row, and every year since the program began.

Community involvement isn’t something we check off a list. It’s part of who we are.

We were also voted Best Heating & Cooling for the eighth consecutive year in Coastal Virginia Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Best Of contest for 2025. Recognition like that only happens when homeowners continue to trust the work being done inside their homes.

And in the Virginia Media Best Of awards, we placed in all eight service categories, the only HVAC company to do so. That reflects trust across the entire region we serve.

Giving Back Where We Live and Work

Outside of service calls, we stayed active in the community.

We enjoyed being part of the Neptune Festival and sponsoring Symphony by the Sea, spending time at the same local events our customers enjoy.

We helped collect food for the HER Shelter Thanksgiving Food Drive, supporting families during the holiday season.

And once again, we were proud to support WTKR’s Holiday Helper Toy Drive by picking up and delivering toys across Hampton Roads.

Seeing that level of generosity never gets old.

The Work That Matters Most Happens Every Day

Behind the awards and events, the real work continued.

We showed up on time.
And when we didn’t, we honored our promise.

We helped homes stay comfortable through cold snaps, heat waves, and everything in between. We explained problems clearly. We answered questions honestly. We treated homes, pets, and routines with respect.

Our Comfort Club family continued to grow, helping more homeowners stay ahead of breakdowns instead of reacting to them.

And behind the scenes, real people answered phones, managed schedules, and kept customers informed every step of the way.

None of that happens by accident.

Looking Ahead — With a Little Practical Advice

As we head into the new year, the goal isn’t to do more. It’s to keep doing things the right way.

And since winter has a habit of testing heating systems when you least expect it, we’ll leave you with a few simple, safe reminders to help your system get through the coldest stretch of the season.

A Few Smart Winter Checks for Homeowners

You don’t need to open panels or touch anything mechanical to help your system along. These are homeowner-friendly steps that make a real difference.

Check your filter.
If it’s been more than a couple of months, it’s time. A dirty filter restricts airflow and puts extra strain on your system, especially during long cold nights.

Make sure vents are open.
Guest rooms and rarely used spaces still need airflow. Closed vents make your system work harder and leave rooms unevenly heated.

Clear space around the furnace.
Storage boxes, decorations, or laundry piled too close can restrict airflow and create safety concerns. Your furnace needs room to breathe.

Listen for changes.
New noises, short cycling, or the system running longer than usual are often early warning signs. Catching them early is always easier than dealing with a no-heat call later.

A Smarter Plan for the Year Ahead

The most reliable way to get through winter without surprises is regular professional maintenance. That’s why so many homeowners choose to join our Comfort Club.

Comfort Club members get routine system care, priority service, and discounts on repairs. It’s designed to catch small issues early, keep systems running efficiently, and reduce the chance of emergency breakdowns when temperatures drop.

And if your heating system is 10 years old or older, this is also a smart time to take a closer look at the bigger picture. Older systems can become less reliable and more expensive to repair as they age.

If you’re not sure how much life your system has left, give us a call. We’re happy to provide a free replacement estimate and walk you through your options, clearly and without pressure. Sometimes peace of mind starts with knowing where you stand.

Thank You for Trusting One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

Thank you for choosing One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning this past year. Thank you for recommending us to friends and family. And thank you for letting us into your homes.

If you need us in the year ahead, just give us a call. A real person will answer, and we’ll take it from there.

We look forward to serving Hampton Roads in the new year — the same way we always have.
On time. Thorough. And focused on doing things right.
